Tourism industry in the country seems to be going great guns and industry players, whether big or small, are adding to their headcount to cope with the increasing flow of tourists coming into the country.

To cater to the growing demand for talent, a popular online job portal, Bayt.com, will be holding an online job fair targeting the hospitality industry in the country and across the region.

The online portal has announced the hospitality virtual job fair will be accessible online from June 9 to June 13.

The job fair will give both the employers and jobseekers from across the region a chance to participate and interact with each other and help them explore various opportunities with any additional costs involved.

The website boasts of over 11.5 million members, offering a huge pool of talent to employers. At the same time, the hospitality job fair will target the job site’s community of over 500,000 hospitality-industry professionals, whose talents and experience spans all career levels and job roles as well as any other professionals interested in a hospitality job in the region.

Employers and jobseekers can use a range of digital tools, such as chat rooms, webcasts and webinars, to exchange vital job-related information. Jobseekers can search for available jobs and submit their CVs, while employers can interact with jobseekers through virtual ‘booths’.

The UAE hotel and tourism sector is predicted to reach $7.5 billion by 2016 and nearly all the big names are in an expansion mode in the country.

For example, Starwood Hotel and Resorts Worldwide are opening 50 new hotels in the region in the next five years to bring the total to 130 properties.

In addition, there has been a recent announcement in Dubai of the return to ‘mega project’ announcements, with these estimated at around $20 billion in the last six months and include Bluewater Islands off the coast of the city.

Further, the Dubai-based Skai Holdings has revealed its plans to build a $1 billion hotel with more than 200 serviced apartments at the Palm Jumeirah.

The online portal has also announced another upcoming fair – the Middle East virtual job fair – which will be accessible online from May 26 to May 30.

Jobseekers wishing to participate in either virtual fair can register for free at virtualjobfair.bayt.com or hospitality.bayt.com.
