Insect found inside a can of beans in RAK

An Arab man who shopped at a major foodstuff outlet in Ras Al Khaimah was shocked when he found an insect inside a foul mudammes (bean) can just before he was about to devour it. When he made a complaint to authorities, the manufacturing company tried to bribe him to drop the case.

The man said he found the insect after shopping at the supermarket just before the end of 2011, adding that he filmed the insect with his mobile phone and showed it to the competent authorities.

“A company official later contacted me and offered me some gifts to I will withdraw the complaint but of course I refused,” the unnamed man said, quoted by the Dubai-based Arabic language daily Albayan.

He said the company had withdrawn all its bean products from that supermarket and that police are investigating the case after receiving a report from Ras Al Khaimah municipality.
