The traffic situation at Jumeirah Beach Residence reached a critical level this morning, with commuters in the area complaining of being trapped in a gridlock for over two hours.
At 10.30am, the traffic jam was still in play, with several residents complaining of moving not more than 200 metres in a span of 60 minutes.
Several took to social media to suggest the reason behind Wednesday’s gridlock was due to a ‘sudden road closure’.
The Walk, Al Sufouh Road in front of JBR and surrounding areas of Dubai Media/Internet City freezone are all facing heavy traffic conditions since morning.
A statement is awaited from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the JBR master developer.
In a string of tweets, CB wrote on Twitter: “Three hours to get from JBR to DIFC today.”
DD wrote: “JBR at standstill outside Amwaj and Shams.”
Yajnesh Rao wrote earlier: “JBR nothing moving.”
Due to the traffic in JBR, surrounding neigbourhoods, including Dubai Marina, Al Sufouh and Beach Road were reportedly affected in a domino effect.
Henriette Svensen wrote: “Stuck in same spot for 25 minutes at JBR, Dubai Marina.”
