Jobless man gets 1 year for molesting housewife

An unemployed Pakistani man, found guilty of molesting a Chinese woman in her apartment while she was changing her clothes, has been sentenced to one year in prison by Dubai Court of First Instance.

The 28-year-old, who is also accused of being under the influence of alcohol while misbehaving with the 29-year-old housewife, has denied the charges of molesting the victim, the court heard, reported 'Gulf News'.

Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad said the accused will be deported after serving his sentence. He is referred to the Misdemeanours Court to be prosecuted for consuming liquor and stealing the victim's mobile phone.

Recalling the incident, the woman said on that particular day she had ordered for some groceries. So when she heard the door bell, expecting the deliveryman, she opened the door only to find the suspect at the door with a fruit bag in his hands. However, she thought her husband had sent the man with fruits, so she let him in and proceeded to the bedroom to change clothes. A while later, she heard a knock on the bedroom door, thinking it was her husband, she opened the door to see the suspect. She closed it immediately, but he forced opened the door and molested her.

She tried calling her husband, but the suspect grabbed the mobile and escaped.

Meanwhile, the watchman arrived as her husband had informed him. The watchman said the acused escaped before he could have nabbed him.

The verdict can be appealled wiyhin 15 days.
