A group of Asian spice dealers proved their temper is as hot as their products when they assaulted and beat up a Pakistani photo journalist who tried to take shots of their shops in Sharjah, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The journalist with an English language daily was filming old shops selling spice, perfume and other products in Roula area when eight Asian shop owners came close and asked him to stop taking pictures.

“He protested and said he would not stop. They then assaulted the photographer and beat him up. He was taken to Kuwait Hospital suffering from injuries in various parts of his body,” the Abu Dhabi-based daily 'Al Ittihad' said.

The paper did not identify the photographer but said police opened an investigation in to the case.
