Music connoisseurs in Dubai can expect an enthralling evening with Bollywood playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti performing on Saturday evening at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School, Dubai.
The event is organised by Heart & Soul Events and is titled “My Journey in Bollywood”.
Kavita’s exceptional talent was spotted by legendary singer Hemant Kumar who heard her performing on stage while she was still in college and offered her opportunities to share the stage with him. She has also worked closely with another legend, Manna De, in the initial phase of her career. She was also closely associated with music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal. The versatile singer went from strength to strength and performed with four generations of musicians and has sung more than 15,000 songs in 16 languages in various genres.
On Saturday evening, Kavita will trace her four-decade old journey in Bollywood, which started in the early 1970s and will perform songs that became chartbusters and are hummed and danced to even today. She will also pay tribute to the legends of Bollywood with whom she worked closely.
Some of her evergreen Bollywood hits include "Hawa Hawaii", "Karte Hain Hum Pyaar Mr India Se", “Aaj Main Upar”, “Mera Piya Ghar Aaya”, “Pyaar Hua Chupke Se”, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”, Nimbooda” and “Dola Re Dola”.
Trained in classical music, Kavita has sung a wide range of classical-based songs as well. In her career, she has worked with a variety of music composers, including RD Burman and AR Rahman. She is also the recipient of four Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Awards, including 3 consecutive awards in the period 1994–1996, and the Padmashri which she received in 2006.
