Dubai Municipality has announced that the public can register online for the fifth Car Free Day which will be held on Wednesday February 19 using the link provided via the DM web portal and social media pages.
Mohamed Al Noori, Director of Corporate Marketing and Relations Department, said: “We have provided the electronic link for the public including organisations and individuals to join the green initiative of Dubai Municipality in collaboration with 61 entities from both government and private sector.
“The amazing response from the residents and organisations in the emirate of Dubai shows that this year we will exceed the expected target of participants and number of cars to be taken off the roads,” Al Noori said.
“The most thrilling part of the initiative this year is that the civic body will be distributing 100 sport bicycles for the winners who registered online,” he said.
“We hope all residents of Dubai will exploit this opportunity to spread a great message to the whole world showing that our people are well aware of environmental conservation and we will lead the world in awareness of the use of public transport,” he further said.
“It is our aspiration to set a world record by observing a complete car free day in the emirate of Dubai in nearest future, which can be accomplished only by the complete cooperation of the community. Hence, it is the duty of each member of the society to spread this message encouraging others to participate in the initiative,” he added.
