List of Dubai private school holidays

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) released the school calendar for the academic year 2015-16 last Thursday.

The few schools that Emirates24|7 contacted confirmed that they have been handed over the new school calendar.

The dates coincide with the dates unveiled by the Federal Cabinet earlier last week, with the winter break reduced by a week.

According to the calendar released by KHDA, the winter and spring break will be two weeks each.

The schools will begin the new academic year on August 30, 2015, and the school calendar year ends on June 23, 2016.

Talking to Emirates24|7, Clive Pierrepont, director of Communications Taaleem, informed that the KHDA allows schools to alter the specified dates by a week, or less.

“Our schools will end on June 30,” he added. About the teaching staff, he added that the new recruits will start on August 16, while the “returning teachers” will begin work on August 23 for their school.

The total number of schools days will be 188 days.

Last week, the Federal Cabinet had approved the school calendar for the next three years.

The winter vacation will be three weeks and the spring break two weeks.

The total number of number of school days has been reduced from 189 this year to 175 days.

The Ministry of Education had, last year, added 10 extra days to the school calendar.

The Cabinet said the decision was in line with the global standards and the education criteria contained in the national agenda of the UAE.
