Lost ATM card leads man to Dh100,000 in Dubai
Losing his bank ATM card proved lucky for Omani national Mohammed A S Al Noman, as it inadvertently won him Dh100,000 and two Infiniti cars.
Mohammed had left a gas station after being unable to find his lost bank card. He returned 30 minutes later after his wife informed him that a police officer had found it.
After collecting his card, a customer service representative at the gas station persuaded him to buy the Mega Infiniti Raffle ticket.
The Omani grandfather of 11 promptly obliged after a little hesitation.
“I refused the gas station attendant several times by saying that I was already having a bad day,” he recalled, adding that he has never won a raffle before.
“I bought the coupon and then completely forgot about it as I got busy with my travel plans to Germany.”
Later, he was elated to receive a call from Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and the organisers of Dubai Shopping Festival, informing him about his grand win.
“It’s a beautiful occasion for me as the news of me winning the raffle has come just a few days before my birthday (January 17).”
Mohammed has big plans for the grand prize.
He wants to sell the two Infiniti cars (QX 60 and G25) and add the money to Dh100,000 cash prize. This will go towards buying the house that he currently lives in.
Shoppers can try their luck at the Infiniti Mega Raffle by buying a coupon for Dh200 at Gold Souk, main shopping malls, selected Enoc and Eppco petrol stations and Global Village.
The 9th edition of DSF runs until February 2 under the theme ‘Shop at your Best’.
