The Dubai Public Prosecution referred a person from a GCC country to the Dubai Criminal Court after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman from a European country, ‘Al Bayan’ newspaper has reported.

The attack happened inside the man’s vehicle in a remote, desert area, the woman said in her testimony.

The young man is also accused of threatening to kill the woman if she informed the police.

The victim testified that the man was known to her and when she left the country in August 2014, he attempted to stay in touch with her.

She added that he used to call her, but she never replied to his calls.

Then on returning to the country, he persuaded her to accompany him to visit his farm to have a look at the camels on his ranch.

“I agreed to accompany him in his car, but was surprised when he stopped the car in the middle of the desert and started harassing me,” she said.

She added that she refused to respond to his requests and tried to run away. “But he beat me and threatened to kill me with a knife and then raped me by force,” she said.

The man dropped her near Nad Al Shebha after the attack.

“I called an ambulance for transport to the hospital, where I was admitted the hospital and informed the police,” she added.
