Man held for chaining sister

A criminal court in Abu Dhabi is trying an Arab expatriate accused of beating up his sister and using metal chains to tie her up to prevent her from going out, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The unidentified defendant confessed to his acts but his lawyer said the man wanted to correct his sister who had left the house for long periods many times in defiance of her father, Albayan said.

“The defendant told court he beat up his sister at his father’s request…he said that when his father’s started to advise her, she swore at him,” the paper said.
