Man molests young woman in lift

An Egyptian carpenter allegedly molested a young Sri Lankan woman in the lift in Discovery Gardens, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Dubai Public Prosecution accused IAI, 33, of touching breast of a 21-year-old Sri Lankan visitor while she was getting out of the lift with a little boy.

While they were in the lift, the man asked her whether she is an Indian but she told him that she is a Sri Lankan national. “Then he asked me about the boy with me; I told him he is my brother. At this moment he touched my right breast but pulled his hand back and apologised,” SL testified before the Prosecution.

“I was very upset with the man’s behaviour. I went up again and informed my sister in law’s husband who came down with me and we spotted the man at the fourth floor.

When my sister in law’s husband confronted him with what he did, the man apologised again but we did not accept his apology and instead called the police,” she told prosecutors.

The court adjourned the case till February 27.
