A court in western Abu Dhabi sentenced an Asian man to three months in prison and ordered his deportation from the UAE after he was found guilty of driving his car under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident.
The court in Dhafra also fined the man Dh2,000 and banned him from driving for six months after he confessed to the charges.
The Arabic language daily 'Al Ittihad' said tests after the driver rammed into steel poles off the road in the Western region showed he had alcoholic drinks.
“He confessed that he had a couple of drinks before getting into his car,’ the paper said.
