An Emirati allegedly forged insurance policy papers and cheated a man of Dh750.

ANH, 30, placed an advertisement in a newspaper claiming to give car insurance at competitive prices.

The Dubai Prosecution accused ANH of deceiving a person by issuing him a forged car insurance policy attributed to Fujairah National Insurance and also taking Dh750.

The victim Ibrahim Obaid testified that in 2004 he wanted to insure his Nissan Patrol and read an advertisement claiming to issue insurances at better prices.

“I met him on September 25, 2004 and agreed with him to issue insurance for my car for Dh750. An hour later he handed me a policy attributed to the Fujairaj National Insurance. He asked me not to call the company if I met with any accident but to call him directly. In October 2 I had an accident at Al Salaa area in Abu Dhabi and two friends died in the accident and the court ordered me to pay Dh200,000 blood money and sentenced me 2 months in jail. I called him and he committed to handle the matter after which he disappeared. Checking with the insurance company, they found out that the policy was forged so I logged a complaint against him,” Obaid testified.

The victim’s brother Mohammed repeated the same testimony adding that the father of the accused approached him and told him that his son is a troublemaker and offered paying Dh10,000 against dropping the case but they refused.

The court adjourned the case until February 21.
