Marathon Mission: Banker walks from Abu Dhabi to Dubai 7 times

Published

A Mashreq Bank employee has so far walked seven times from Abu Dhabi to Dubai covering a total of 700km to raise health awareness among UAE residents.

Nasser Ibrahim completed his latest walk from the national capital to the Mashreq Bank’s Internet City office in Dubai on February 3 told Emirates 24|7 that his mission is not yet complete and he is willing to walk more and even take is initiative to a new location and a foreign land to crate enough awareness among the local population.

“The mission is accomplished only when the goal is achieved. Our idea is to create awareness among the population. I am trying my best do whatever I can. More people should join hands and together we can make a difference,” says Ibrahim, clutching on to his daughter soon after the completion of the walk.

This time around he managed to rope in two more people - his cousins -  to join him in the walk.

“They managed to complete 60 kms. Next time around though I am confident that they can complete the full distance,” he says.

Surprisingly Ibrahim himself looked very fresh and energetic after his marathon walk. “That’s because I have now done it so many times. This time I completed the walk in 48 hours. The first time around  it took me over 60 hours though,” he says.

Through his latest initiative Ibrahim managed to raise Dh50,000 for special needs children in Rashid Centre for Disabled.

He started his walk from Abu Dhabi Airport on 1st February at 12noon, and arrived at Dubai Internet City Mashreq branch on 3rd Feb at 4pm. Senior officials from Mashreq bank joined him for the last one kilometer stretch. Children from Rashid Centre welcomed Nasser at the finish line.
