The body of an Indian businessman who went missing last week has been found.

His body was discovered at the beach near Dibba in Fujairah last Thursday, a day after he went missing.

His car was found parked besides the road near the beach.

Aiyappan, who was also the chairman of Natiga SM College Alumni in the UAE, was in-charge of organising a college reunion on January 15.

"We were not able to trace him since January 13. He had not carried his mobile with him and it was later found inside his house," said Pradeep, a close relative.

"We searched everywhere across hospitals and with friends.

“Finally we registered a police complaint on January 14. The police informed us the next day that they had found his body the previous morning at a beach near Fujairah," said Pradeep.

"They were able to identify him as his Emirates ID and car key was inside his pocket," he added.

Aiyappan, aged 65, owned a stationery wholesale business in Dubai, and people who knew him say he was not in any major financial distress.

Aiyappan owned the Al Istamarar office material trading firm in the UAE.

"We are still not sure if it indeed was a suicide or an accident. The forensic examination is on," he says.

A resident of Muhaisnah in Dubai, Aiyappan has been living in the UAE for more than four decades.

He is survived by his wife and two children and they lived here in the UAE until four months ago.
