Mom and son in jail for attacking policemen

A mother and son were on Tuesday sentenced to three years in jail on the charge of attempted murder of two police officers.

The Dubai Criminal Court also sentenced the Gulf national woman's younger son to three years for possessing stolen jewellery.

However, the mother and her elder son were acquitted from the charge of helping the other son in hiding the stole jewellery.

The mom-son duo are accused of attacking two cops with knives last September when they were on duty.

The officers had gone to their home to search for stolen goods after the younger son had been arrested from his residence in Al Safa area. But upon entering the house, the woman screamed and stabbed the officer with a knife and called out to her older son to help her, who inturn pulled oyt adagger and attacked the other cop.

Luckily, another team of cops arrived at the scene and saved the two officers who were immeiately rushed to hospital, heard the court.
