Multi-vehicle crash on Hessa Street

Motorists are reporting a gridlock on Hessa Street following a ‘multi-vehicle’ crash on Wednesday morning.

Reports of heavy traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road, northbound, has also resulted in tailbacks from Business Bay, which stretch to Dubai Police Academy.

At 9.30am, Dubai Police reported on the accident causing the Hessa Street gridlock. “Multi-vehicle traffic accident on Hessa Street towards Al Khail Road opposite Emirates ID Centre. Please drive carefully and use alternative routes,” Dubai Police tweeted.

However, at 11.30am, no respite was still in sight for commuters trapped in the traffic jam.

Dahlia Danda tweeted at 11.15am: “What is up with Dubai Traffic? It is literally after 11am. I don’t get it.”

Several motorists also reported emergency helicopters hovering in the area.

Further down, the gridlock on E11, heading towards World Trade Centre, had also resulted in slow-moving traffic on the busy highway.

Motorists are stating the build-up of traffic is due to the ongoing Dubai Canal roadworks on Sheikh Zayed Road; a 16-lane flyover is being built on both sides to facilitate traffic to and from Dubai/Sharjah towards Jebel Ali/Abu Dhabi.
