The Public Parks and Horticulture Department of the Dubai Municipality planted 4.5 million flower plants in the emirate last year, according to Hussain Nasser Lootah , director-general of the civic body.
“Nursing flower plants in parks and squares, road sides and residential areas has been a prime focus in our efforts to beautify the city. The planting drive started last year will be completed by this January and we hope the winter plants will yield flowers by next May,” said Lootah.
“We have planned our project according to the three seasons, summer, winter and spring. We select the flower plants according to the season and the place to be beautified,” said Lootah.
The Public Parks and Horticulture Department has a special team to study the sites and decide on the flower plants to be planted, fertilisers to be used etc.. Various flower plants found all over the world can be seen in Dubai’s parks and streets.
