Muslims urged to respect others

Islamic preachers used their open-air Friday sermon in the UAE yesterday to call on Muslims to respect other cultures and religions, saying Islam approves of coexistence with all other people.

The preachers, whose Friday sermon is normally instructed by the ministry of justice and Islamic affairs, said mixing among all religions and ethnic races is admissible and acceptable in Islam.

“Islam approves of coexistence among all sects and ethnic origins so all people will cooperate for their own good,” they said in a unified sermon, according to 'Alkhaleej' newspaper.

"Muslims should live with other religions, races and cultures in peace and security and in love and affection wherever they are…Islam calls for interaction among all individuals of the society and among all human races…having a different religion has never been an obstacle for such interaction because Islam has always underscored the need for establishing justice among all community members….Islam has admonished against taking the reluctance of others to embrace our religion as an excuse to hurt them or harm their rights.”
