NCM: UAE may witness rain for next four days

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) stated that the weather in the country might witness fluctuations for a period of four days, starting from Sunday until Wednesday. It may witness continuous rain of varying levels accompanied by lightning and thunder sometimes in scattered areas with a drop in temperatures.

A number of areas in the country, on Saturday, witnessed continuous rainfall of varying levels as a result of the country being affected by a surface depression from the east, with a weak depression extending in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Light rain began at 13:55 on Maliha Al Dhaid and Weshah Road in Sharjah, on Al Dhait in Ras Al Khaimah, and on separate areas in Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain, Dubai, and separate areas in the country.

The lowest temperature recorded in the country on Saturday was 8.3°C in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 2:30 am, while the highest temperature was 31.1°C in Wetide area (Al Dhafra region) at 3:15 pm, according to the NCM.

The NCM also explained that the region is going to be affected by an extension of a low surface pressure system from the east, accompanied with an extension of a weak upper air low-pressure system.

The weather on Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy at times over some coastal, northern and eastern areas accompanied by some cumulus clouds associated with rainfall, with a significant drop in temperatures.

The winds will be moderate to fresh northwesterly winds and strong at times especially offshore and with clouds formation with a speed of 20 – 30 reaching 50 km/hr. The sea will be rough to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in the Oman Sea.

On Monday, the weather is expected to be unstable, as clouds may increase gradually over scattered areas of the country accompanied by some cumulus clouds associated with rainfall. Moderate to fresh northwesterly to southwesterly winds and strong at times especially offshore with a speed of 20 – 35 reaching 50 km/hr.

The sea will be moderate becoming rough at times with clouds formation offshore the Arabian Gulf and rough becoming moderate by Tuesday in the Oman Sea.

The weather on Tuesday and Wednesday will continue partly cloudy to cloudy at times accompanied by some cumulus clouds associated with rainfall in different levels over scattered areas. Light to moderate northeasterly to southwesterly winds, freshening at times especially with clouds formation, with a speed of 15 – 35 reaching 40 km/hr. The sea will be moderate, becoming rough at times with clouds in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.
