In less than a week, two new feeder buses will be launched to serve some of Dubai’s popular new communities. Motor City, Sport City, International City, Mirdif and Muhaisnah are some of the areas that will benefit from the new service.
On March 1, 2014 two new bus routes will be launched, said the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) in a statement to Emirates24|7.
“The service will inaugurate two new routes connecting new developments with the Metro Station as feeder and urban routes,” clarified Essa al Hashmi, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Public Transport Agency (PTA) of RTA.
One feeder bus route -Route F29- will connect the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station with the International Media Production Zone serving both Motor city and Sport city en route.
“This service will enhance the mobility in four rapidly growing communities with 20 minutes headway on regular week days, while on Friday the level of service will be 30 minutes operating in-line with the Dubai Metro timetable,” said Al Hashemi.
“This service is intended to ease the work-based trips movements,” he added. Although the feeder buses will operate during peak hours only, the service will be monitored and further enhanced later on, promised the RTA.
The second feeder bus route will be Route 367, connecting Etisalat Metro station with International City via both Mirdif City Center and Muhaisenah area.
“In this regard uptown Mirdrif will also be connected with the major residence area of International City,” commented Al Hashemi. The service will operate with 20 minutes headway during peak hours, and with 30 minutes headway during off-peak hours, he said.
On the same day, the RTA will launch the extension of Route 29, which means the first service catering to the popular Business Bay area.
“Route 29, which connects Al Ghubaiba area with Down Town Burj Area, will be extended from its current end terminus located beside Dubai Mall to service the Business Bay development and terminate at Business Bay Metro Station,” told Al Hashemi this website earlier. https://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/business-bay-bus-route-pick-up-every-15-mins-2014-01-26-1.536054
“The development of new routes takes into account the requirement of new developers, feedback of residence in Dubai and provide connectivity to major transportation modes,” he explained.
The three routes are the first to be introduced in 2014, but follow a series of new routes launched throughout 2013, the latest being the addition of three new bus routes on December 1st, 2013.
“As part of the public service enhancement program in the emirate of Dubai, the network has been expanding to cover about 85 per cent of the total urban area of Dubai,” said Al Hashemi.
