New car plate protects vehicles from theft

The process of replacing old car plates with the new Abu Dhabi ID plate in the emirate of Abu Dhabi began on Tuesday in the service centers designated by the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department for this purpose in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and the Western Region.

The vehicles whose owners received the service were decorated with the beautiful new plates which are characterized by clear numbers and security features that protect cars from theft or fraud and conform to the best international quality specifications and standards.

Colonel Suhail Al Khaiaili, Chief of the Vehicles Licensing Section at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said, “Replacing one plate takes less than 5 minutes in service centers. This streamlines customers’ procedures and prevents congestion during the replacement process, which is available from 7:30am until 7pm.”

He said: “A number of plants have been provided in service centers to manufacture the plates and were designed to meet the needs of those who want to replace their old ones with the help of technicians specialised in installing the new ones, all free of charge.”

He pointed out that the replacement process takes place at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department Headquarters, “Al Salamah” building in Abu Dhabi,  Mussafah, Al Samha, Mahwi, “Al Qalaa,” “Aman” building in Mussafah, and “Al Salamah” building in Al Ain, as well as in Al Bateen, and Mazyad in Al Ain, and the Western Region in Madinat Zayed. The replacement will also be available through the Taresh service via the number 800827374.

Moreover, Colonel Al Khaiaili explained that those who wish to replace their car plates with the new Abu Dhabi ID plates can head to the service centers for a fee of Dh400, and that the replacement service is provided for valid car plates or in the case of renewal or registration.

It is worth mentioning that putting the promotional Abu Dhabi ID on vehicle plates registered in the emirate of Abu Dhabi aims to promote the emirate’s identity. This has been taken into account through the innovative design of the new plates, which highlights the uniqueness of Abu Dhabi as a leading global destination.

The promotional identity of Abu Dhabi was launched in 2007 in order to stimulate tourism and culture in the emirate through joint cooperation between the concerned government authorities.
