Dubai Municipality released the latest map of the emirate, which includes names of renamed streets, reported 'Al Ittihad' newspaper.
Hussein Lootah, Director-General, Dubai Municipality, speaking after the launch, said the latest map is the culmination of the street-renaming campaign that began in Dubai in 2009 under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Municipality.
Dubai has been divided into 12 regions depending on street names such as heritage areas, old markets, coastal zone, areas of mixed housing, industrial areas, business hubs, academic area, cultural and rural areas, etc.
The Map of Dubai also includes hundreds of service projects such as hotels, banks, parks, hospitals, schools, police stations and tourist destinations, among others.
Dubai Municipality, meanwhile, also launched 'i-Dubai' - a new system for smartphones - which will be available for iPhone and BlackBerry users. The new service will offer details of Dubai and the lastest news concerning the emirate, apart from the map of Dubai.
