New roads to ease woes of JVC residents in Dubai

Residents at Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) will have easier access to the community as Nakheel, the master developer of the community, will open three new JVC/Hessa Street link roads later this year.

The developer on Thursday said it has awarded a contract for Dh18.5 million to construct the new JVC access points, which will improve traffic flow and reduce journey times at one of Dubai’s largest and fastest-growing communities, the developer said.

UAE-based DX Contracting and National Gulf Construction will jointly build the new roads. Work will begin in February, with anticipated completion in third quarter 2016.

“Around 20,000 people currently live in JVC, but this rapidly-growing mixed-use development will accommodate some 300,000 people when complete,” a Nakheel spokesman said.

“The new road links will enhance JVC in both the short- and long-term by tackling the immediate needs of residents and addressing the future needs of the community as it expands.”

The company has delivered more than 700 villas at JVC, with over 265 buildings, villas and townhouses by third-party developers either complete or under construction. A further 239 residential, commercial and hospitality buildings by sub-developers are currently in design stage.

JVC will also be home to The Circle Mall, a shopping, dining and entertainment hub, with 235 shops, cafes and restaurants and a multi-screen cinema. Construction will begin this year.
