New unit for women’s road accidents at AD police

Abu Dhabi traffic police set up a separate unit to deal with women’s road accidents which will also be handled only by police women.

“The aim is to provide psychological support and an element of tranquility for women in case they are involved in accidents,” said Major Jamal Al Amiri, director of the public relations at the Abu Dhabi traffic department.

“We also want to ensure privacy for women involved in road accidents in line with the social habits and traditions of the UAE,” he told Al Bayan daily.

He said female cops had been trained to handle women’s road mishaps, adding that accidents caused by women are far below those involving men.
