It's the kind of stuff dreams are made of. Omani national Thuwaini Badri was in for a pleasant surprise when his new car won him another car at the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).

"It is great to finally win. The few years of consistently participating in the raffle has paid off. I always knew I would win but it just took a few more tries than I originally thought.

“Usually, I would buy phone credit and Salik cards from petrol stations during DSF. Last year, I remember I spent a lot of money on these things and even though I wasn’t lucky back then, I did not lose hope. I stayed optimistic until I finally won luck over to my side.”

The Omani national is employed as a public relations specialist for a private company.

He won a Nissan Micra during the Nissan daily draw.

Recalling how he won, he said: “I bought a new car at the end of 2015, so I headed to one of the petrol stations in the Jaffiliya area to buy a Salik ticket. I got a raffle ticket for the Nissan grand raffle, put my name down, and forgot about it. A few days later, I got a call from the organisers informing me I had won a Nissan car.

“I feel like it’s a gift from God to me and my six children, especially as I have major financial obligations at the moment. I will continue to take part in the raffles because who knows maybe my lucky streak isn’t quite over yet.”

To win a car at the daily Nissan Grand Raffle, shoppers must spend Dh20 at Zoom or Pronto, Dh35 at Prowash in Enoc/Eppco stations, or Dh100 for any AutoPro or oil change services. The daily raffle will be giving away one of eight cars from Nissan – Micra; Sunny; Sentra; Tiida Hatchback; X-Trail; Juke;  Pathfinder and Patrol.

DSF 2016 is organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, and runs until February 1.
