On-the-run Filipino held for stabbing woman

Abu Dhabi Police have arrested a Filipino who has been on the run after stabbing and stealing an Egyptian woman in Dubai, the Arabic language daily 'Emarat Al Youm' reported on Tuesday.

The man, identified by his initials as BK, stabbed the woman many times in Batinia area in Dubai before snatching her bag and fleeing, the paper said, quoting police sources.

The incident took place just before the end of 2010 and witnesses gave police a clue when they saw the Filipino run away with the knife and the woman’s bag.

The man, who had worked as a mechanic at a car firm in Dubai, was spotted in Abu Dhabi this week.

“When police tried to arrest him, he resisted them, stole a car and fled…they chased the car and arrested him.”
