Overhaul for Abu Shaghara used-car market

Sharjah Municipality initiates measures to organise activities in Abu Shaghara Haraj area, which hosts more than 460 car showrooms.

As per the directives of Sultan Mualla, Director-General of Sharjah Municipality, plans are on to restart municiple auctions of vehicles to protect interests of both owners and buyers, reported 'Al Khaleej' newspaper.

Authorities want to monitor the increasing numbers of street sellers of vehicles [or brokers], especially those who are not specialised in the field, said Marwan Al Hassan, Head of Market Supervision, Sharjah Municipality. Showroom owners will be given ID cards, he added.

Municipality is also intalks to open a foreign affairs office in the area to help clients who come from abroad to buy used cars form shops in Abu Shaghara area, Hassan said.
