A 50-year old an Arab man died on Tuesday in a run- over road accident in Sharjah, the Arabic daily newspaper ‘Al Khaleej’ has reported.
According to eye witnesses, the accident took place in Sharjah’s Al Khan area midway between the Carrefour traffic signal and Safeer Mall.
They added that the deceased was crossing the road in an area not allowed for pedestrians.
A police source said the operations room was informed about the accident in the morning.
Eyewitnesses told ‘Al Khaleej’ that the victim used to cross the road at this place daily on his way to work.
Eyewitness said the long distance between the two signals and lack of foot bridges forced people to cross the road from places prohibited for pedestrians.
They added that absence of a barrier also encourages pedestrians to cross the road.
