Pepsi, Coke prices up by as much as 50%
The Ministry of Economy has announced that the prices of Pepsi and Coke will increase by between 25 per cent and 50 per cent from this month, according to Al Bayan newspaper.
Mohammed Abdul Aziz Al Shehi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, told Al Bayan yesterday that the decision to increase the prices of soft beverages was approved by the Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection two months ago.
He added that the committee had asked the two companies - Pepsi and Coca Cola - to postpone the hike until January 2011.
According to Al Shehi, “The Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection, agreed to increase the prices of soft drinks by up to 50 per cent for small cans. The price of big bottle will increase by about 25 per cent.
