More than 4,000 pilgrims from the UAE are staying now in Madinah, preparing to start the spiritual journey of Hajj.

According to Khamis Mohammed Al Saridi, Head of the Madinah contingent at the Official Hajj Mission, the concerned committees in Madina are working around the clock to provide assistance and all means of comfort to the UAE pilgrims.

He praised the unlimited support given to the mission by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

He also lauded the close follow-up of Dr Hamdan Musalam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Awqaf (Endowments), Dr Mohammed Matar Salem Al Kaabi, Director-General of the Authority, and Mohammed Obaid Al Mazrouei, Head of the UAE Hajj Mission.

Al Saridi said the mission had conducted inspection visits to update themselves on the conditions of the pilgrims and get their comments on the services provided. "Located just a few metres away from Al Masjid Al Nabawi - the Mosque of Prophet Mohammed PBUH - the mission's headquarters in Madinah is considered an excellent facility, encompassing large halls, separate clinics and dining halls for men and women, and comfortable residential areas," added Al Saridi.

The last contingent of UAE pilgrims is expected to leave Madinah on Saturday, for Makkah, ahead of moving to Mina for Tarwiya day on November 14.

Health condition of the UAE Haj pilgrims is good, and no incidence of epidemics or infectious diseases has been reported, according to Mohammed Obaid Al Mazrouei, Head of the UAE Haj Mission.

"The pilgrims who visit the mission's clinics mainly complain of cold, flu, muscles pain or symptoms that are common among all pilgrims," Al Mazrouei said.

He urged the pilgrims to report to the nearest health facility if faced with health problems to get the appropriate medical treatment.

Al Mazrouei toured the UAE pilgrims’ camp in Mina and was reassured of adequate facilities there.

He said that this year's camps will have new and spacious tents with foldable mattresses to guarantee maximum comfort for the pilgrims as they ready themselves for the Haj climax.

Meanwhile, the Haj Mission launched on Wednesday night a new programme for electronic inspection and evaluation of the Haj and Umrah convoys.

The new programme has a direct link with the department of Haj and Umrah at the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Awqaf (Endowments).
