Dubai police saved a pregnant woman and her baby after she fell down in the bathroom while alone at her home in the emirate, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The unnamed woman called the police after slipping down on the floor and suffering from bleeding but the cops lost contact with her after the phone fell off her hand.

The Arab language daily Al Bayan said police tried again to call her many times until she managed to reach her mobile phone and explain what happened to her.

“Our staff members are well trained to deal with such cases…we tried to call the woman’s husband but he did not answer the phone,” said Lt Colonel Khazraj Al Khazraji, acting director of the command and control center at Dubai’s police.

“Our emergency operator then managed to reach the woman…she asked the woman to calm down and tried to reassure her….she also showed her how to use our WhatsApp applications to show us her location.”

Khazraji said an ambulance reached the woman after 13 minutes and that policemen had to smash the door to enter the apartment.“The woman was rushed to the hospital and she and her baby were saved.”
