Four fugitives who escaped from Al Muraqabat police station has been arrested, Al Ittihad newspaper quoted Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police chief, as saying.
After a massive investigation, Dubai Police succeeded in re-arresting the fugitives on the morning of Januray 1 from Al Hamriyah area, seven days after they managed to escape from the detention centre.
The police chief denied rumours that the prisoners got help from staff.
He praised the tremendous efforts of the police team who prevent the four fugitives from leaving the the UAE borders.
Brigadier Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director-General of Criminal Investigation Department, Dubai Police, said: “One Arab and three Asians were arrested from an an abandoned house Al Hamriyah area."
"They had no money on them, except for a few dirhams, and were surviving on bread for seven days," Al Mansouri added.
They had disguised and moved around in Sharjah and Dubai.
He pointed out “they were they tried to disguise and make some changes during their movements between the emirates of Sharjah and Dubai to disguise the security.
A team of 90 officers and a policeman were responsible of tracking them down.
