UAE residents want to approach life in a better and more fulfilling way during the holy month of Ramadan.

A poll run by Emirates 24|7 shows that participants want to do a lot more to make life more meaningful which means showing compassion to the less privileged, spending more time in prayer, being with people who matter the most and trying to live a better life altogether.

Almost one-third of the respondents (31 per cent) want to devote more time in prayers, which was followed by one in ten respondents (11 per cent) who want to adopt a better and fitter lifestyle. Next on the list (5 per cent) are those who believe now is the time to start spending more time with family and close friends. Some participants (3 per cent) also believe they should be more involved with charitable activities during this time of giving.

The most striking revelation is that a majority of residents (50 per cent) wish to do all of these things.

Ramadan is a time to purify the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice. The holy month is a time not only of fasting but it requires total commitment of the person's body and soul to the spirit of the fast. It’s a time of self-restraint and a time to cleanse the body and soul from impurities.
