Commuters in the areas of Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai Media City might be rewarded when taking the bus with the “Love Your Bus” campaign up for another treat.
"Every time you take the RTA bus to travel around in the neighbourhood, you will receive a scratch card that could win you redeemable vouchers at select dining, supermarket and spa outlets. So, give your car a break and get rewarded for taking the bus," is mentioned on the flyer distributed by the Road and Transport Authority (RTA).
The campaign dubbed “Love your Bus” is aimed at encouraging bus travel in particular areas, this being the second phase of the campaign. In November last year, Discovery Gardens was selected, where bus travellers won several vouchers.
It is not the first time the RTA encourages commuters to travel by bus. Around the same time last year, one passenger was rewarded with a Samsung Galaxy S3 every day for a period of one month.
The aim of the competition is to encourage people to commute by bus, as the Public Transport Agency target for 2013 is to lift its market share to 13 per cent of all transportation means, said Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi, the Director of Bus at that time.
Information about this year’s target is unavailable at the time of writing this.
Meanwhile, taxi passengers are in for a treat too, if they pass the challenge that is. "Take the red-top challenge and win an iPad," says the flyer of the RTA, referring to the red-roof taxis operated by the RTA. However, pink-top taxis and VIP taxis are also participating.
The passenger that steps into any of these vehicles will be challenged with a ‘city-wide quiz’ during the trip. The questions require general knowledge about the emirate, as well as information about Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC).
Among the questions asked: In which year was the United Arab Emirates formed? Where is the DTC Customer Service Office? And how many VIP taxis does the DTC have?
After having completed the quiz, the passenger will be able to enter the draw for an iPad.
