Road accidents dropped sharply in RAK in 2012

The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah saw a marked drop of 37.4 per cent in traffic accidents in 2012, official figures revealed.

''Road fatalities dipped 1.7 per cent to 55 in 2012 compared to 2011,'' the annual traffic statistical report noted.

Colonel Abdullah Ali, Director of Ras Al Khaimah Traffic and Patrols Department, said traffic police recorded 20,770 traffic accidents in 2012, a decrease of 37.4 per cent or 1,600 than 2011. Injuries decreased by 17.5 per cent to 399 for the same period,'' he added.
