The Licensing Agency of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will offer 300 distinguished licensing plates comprising for the first time the P code, over and above other codes namely A, B, I, J, K, L, M, N and O.

The 30th Number Plates Auction will start on Tuesday January 27th and will run for three days.

Mohammed Abdul Kareem Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing at RTA Licensing Agency, said: “The forthcoming online auction is the first auction held in 2015 and forms part of a plan mapped out by the Agency for this year to streamline periodic auctions, be it online or open. Moreover, online auctions have peculiar nature and special appeal to certain segments of the public who appreciate the prevailing comfortable and transparent atmosphere in the selection of numbers online without going through the hassles of waiting or time-consuming exercises. We will therefore spare no effort in continually responding to their needs and requests through holding these auctions at regular intervals during the year.

“The auction will see the offering of 4 and 5-digit vehicle plates; which will be appealing to the public who can select their fancied plates at their own privacy and at the same time in a positive interaction with other bidders. The auction promises to attract wide public participation and see thrilling and passionate competitive bidding,” added Nimaat.

To participate, potential bidders have to have an account opened through RTA website, or use the New link to obtain a new User Name and Password. Participants should have a vehicle registered in the Emirate of Dubai, or head to one of RTA’s Customers Service Centers in Dubai (Umm Al Ramool, Bur Dubai, Deira, and Al Tawar Municipal Center) and seek assistance from staff to complete the registration process needed before taking part in the auction. Additionally, the bidder is required to deposit Dh5,000 as a security deposit which is refundable in case no successful bid is made.
