Sales exec sells 230kg shrimps on the sly

An Egyptian salesman allegedly embezzled Dh76,000 from his employer, also sold fish to dealers and pocketed the money, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

SA, 43, is also accused of breaking into co-operative society’s store and stealing 23 boxes that contained 230kgs of shrimps valued at Dh16,215. The accused sold the shrimps to a restaurant and deposited the money in his own bank account.

Officials of the government body where he was employed, investigated the case after workers reported that they found the store’s lock was broken.

They found out that someone had entered through the refrigerator room using the key.

SA was suspected as he worked as a store keeper before he was asked to concentrate on sales.

SA admitted selling Dh76,000 worth of fish and shrimps and not depositing the money into the society’s account during the months of March and April, 2014.

In a another incident he had sold a client 120kgs of shrimps against which he was issued a cheque in his name.

SA issued two cheques to repay the amount he had stolen from the company.
