Providence saved a Saudi family of three after their car plunged into a deep trench in a street in Al Qassim, where excavation work was under way.

The family consisted of a man, his wife and their girl child.

Mohamed Al Jaythan, spokesman of Al Qassim Red Crescent, said civil defence was informed about a vehicle falling into a trench in a street.

A civil defence unit, an ambulance and rescue teams rushed to the place of the accident. They were able to lift the vehicle and rescue the family.

Al Jaythan said despite the seriousness of the accident, two family members were only slightly hurt while the third was moderately injured by the impact.

He said three members of the family were admitted to the Central Hospital of Bouraidah for further medical treatment.
