A prominent Saudi Muslim preacher has urged UAE female singer Ahlam to stop singing and repent, saying he would pray for her if she does so. But she politely rebuffed his call and asked him to pray for her.

“My sister Ahlam you are a believer who loves God the Almighty. I urge you to make this day a turning point in your life,” Sheikh Mohammed Al Uraifi said on his Twitter page, according to Saudi newspapers.

“I ask you to stop singing, repent and take the path of religion. Let (the fasting month of ) Ramadan come to Ahlam the preacher not Ahlam the signer and I will pray for you.”

Newspapers quoted Ahlman as replying to Sheikh Uraifi on her Twitter page:”May God reward you for your concern my dear Sheikh Mohammed, please pray for me. I ask my God to accept my prayers and yours.”

Born in Abu Dhabi in 1969 to an Emirati father and Bahraini mother, Ahlam had spent her childhood in Bahrain and is now one of the most popular and richest Arab signers. She keeps shuttling between the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and other countries and has luxury apartments in Dubai, Egypt and London.
