Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) received a delegation from Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro) and discussed ways to enhance trade and investment relations as well as to promote the communication between the business communities in both countries.
The delegation headed by Hiroyoki Sato was received by Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman; Abdelaziz Omar Al Midfa, Director of Government Communication Department; Amal Habash, Deputy Director of Commercial Department; and Ahmed bin Saed, Head of Commercial Investment Section at SEDD.
Al Suwaidi said the department is keen on encouraging and attracting investment and capitals in UAE in general and Sharjah in particular.
The work on the emirate’s economic development is considered as one of SEDD’s main roles to attain leadership in sustainable development and achieve economic well-being in accordance with the strategic plan which calls for planning and leading the economic development in Sharjah, he added
Al Suwaidi said, the department seeks to attract many Japanese companies and institutions because of the good reputation and high degree of reliability and efficiency these companies enjoy; in addition to their vast experience and advanced technologies that they have in the fields of transportation, as well as logistic, health, environment, tourism and travel services.
The other areas discussed included mutual trade cooperation and means of developing it. SEDD presented the procedures it provides in coordination with local and federal entities in UAE, apart from the best services, programmes, initiatives, and practices that it provides for customers and investors.
SEDD emphasized that it supports foreign investors in order to diversify the economic sector and to achieve a sustainable economic development in Sharjah.
Al Suwaidi stressed on the importance of having such meetings to exchange expertise and knowledge with different parties, pointing out to the deep and good relations between UAE and Japan. Also, he highlighted on the importance of such relations in serving the common interests in various economic, commercial, investment and many other fields.
On the other hand, the Japanese delegation expressed its gratitude and praised the hospitality and good reception SEDD offered. The Japanese delegation were pleased to learn more about Sharjah’s investment environment and praised the great services and facilitates SEDD offers for investors and capitals.
