A call has gone out to all Sharjah residents who have not yet registered their details for the Sharjah Census 2015 to call on 8008000 to provide the required information and data.

The Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD), overseers of the census, has called on all families and individuals living in the emirate of Sharjah and those who are abroad who have not provided their data during the counting phase, to swiftly call the hotline.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of DSCD and General Supervisor of the Sharjah Census, said: "The official counting phase of Sharjah Census 2015 has already concluded and the phase of data check and editing of the collected data has started. The data checking phase will be accompanied by a comprehensive follow up with all Sharjah residents who have not yet provided their details. Therefore it is very important that people who live in Sharjah, but who were not home when they were visited by the census teams or who were abroad, to participate in the census and provide the required data.”

Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani urged all residents, both Emiratis and residents to call the census teams through the hotline.

He added: "This is necessary to ensure that the census is as accurate as possible and is able to therefore assist in the growth and development of the emirate. Our teams will be ready to receive calls daily from 9:00 am -9:00 pm, and will add their data to forms which will be checked before announcing the final results of the census project. This is important as it will help greatly in achieving the best possible results for the census.”

Al Thani has called on Emirati and resident families and individuals to cooperate and respond positively to the call, saying it is a national duty and ethical commitment for Emirati citizens and residents to participate and contribute to its success, which will help in the completion of development projects and the economic, social and cultural growth of the emirate.

The data check and editing phase began on 9 January 2015, and will then be submitted to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for final approval. The preliminary results of the counting phase will be announced at the end of the month.

In February, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, issued an Emiri decree No.7 of 2015 on conducting a general census of the population, infrastructure, housing and establishments in Sharjah. The census aims to provide statistical data on economic, social and demographic sectors, and others in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development is the only authorized statistical body in the emirate and the source of official statistical data, as well as the body mandated with all community development related policies and plans. It is a corporate body with full legal capacity to carry out and direct all works and necessary actions to achieve its objectives.
