His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to Bakhita Mubarak Ahmed (Umm Abdullah), to honour her as an ideal Emirati mother. She struggled to raise her nine children following the death of her husband, reported 'Emarat Al Youm'.
Sheikh Mohammed tweeted: "I visited today Bakhita (Umm Abdullah), a great ideal Emirati mother..."
He is honouring Emirati mothers on the ocassion of his sixth accession day anniversary.
Sheikh Mohammed added on his tweet: "Her husband died 36 years ago leaving her with nine small children. Despite the difficult circumstances she was able to care for them until they grew up."
He sid that his visit was scheduled to be a surprise, however, "Umm Abdullah surprised me by welcoming me with all her family members".
"Bakhita umm Abdullah still shares without hesitation and limits despite her age. She plays a vital role in bringing up her grandchildren who are orphaned after the death of two of her children," Sheikh Mohammed said.
Meanwhile, Umm Abdullah had tears of joy on having Sheikh Mohammed visit her home. She said that his visit was the greatest honour she has received in her life.
Speaking to 'Emarat Al Youm', Umm Abdullah said that after the death of her husband she decided to take responsibility of raising her nine children. She managed to help them complete their education, and receive the highest academic degrees despite having no income other than the social asisstance that she received.
She said she had no opportunity to study so she was determined to educate her children.
Umm Abdullah has 29 grandchildren.
