A police speed camera in Ras Al Khaimah was crippled after unknown persons sprayed black paint on its screen, police said on Saturday.
The fixed camera on Rams-Shaam road went blind for several hours before police detected the damage.
“Those who have done this do not realise the danger of their action because it will tempt some drivers to speed up and this could cause accidents,” said Colonel Saleh Al Shimali, acting director of the central operations at RAK police.
“This is an irresponsible act by whoever has done this and we will not tolerate any case involving damaging police cameras on the emirate’s roads,” he was quoted as saying by 'Emarat Al Youm' Arabic language daily.
