Statement on release of UAE national in Baghdad

"As part of the interest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in following up on the conditions of UAE nationals abroad, the Ministry, in cooperation with the competent UAE and Iraqi authorities, and in coordination with the UAE Embassy in Baghdad, has been able to release UAE national Kh AM who was detained in Iraq.

This was stated by Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The released UAE national is in good health and is arriving in the UAE today evening," Al Hamed added.

The Ministry takes this occasion to reiterate the need for nationals to maintain communications with the Ministry, and to observe its warnings about traveling to places it considers as dangerous, whether for tourism or for hunting.

Al Hamed thanked the Iraqi competent authorities for the sincere efforts they had made for the release of the Emirati national.

He emphasised the need for registering for the Tawajudi (Arabic for ‘my presence’) service for Emiratis on MoFA's online portal at  www.mofa.gov.ae "
