Student gets six months in jail for rape

An Emirati student who raped a teenaged girl was sentenced to six months in jail by a Dubai court on Monday.

The 17-year-old girl, also an Emirati, had alleged she was kidnapped by the 20-year-old man MS who subsequently raped her after taking her to his house, reported Gulf News.

While the court convicted him of the sexual abuse charge, he was acquitted of kidnapping her.

The girl had earlier told prosecution that she was told by MS and his friend – who later died of unexplained causes – told her that they wanted to remove her pictures from a mobile phone and took her in a car.

The case sheet shows that she was prevented from leaving the car and MS took her to his house and raped her.

In his testimony, an Emirati man told the court that he met the girl at Dubai Festival City. She told him about her being raped and the perpetrators were watching her.
