Dubai Municipality has refuted rumours about the presence of harmful chemicals in toothpastes.

Social media was abuzz with rumours that the printed lines on the edge of the toothpaste contained harmful chemicals.

In the statement, posted on their official Instagram account, Marwan Al-Mohammad, Director of Health and Public Safety Department, confirmed the absence of chemical components in the toothpaste.

He explained that the printed lines on the toothpaste have nothing to do with the toothpaste components, but are identifiable marks to enable the manufacturing devices to identify toothpastes and the appropriate cutting places through electronic color sensors.

The official appealed to the public not to believe whatever is printed on social media.

He stressed the need to verify news issued by local or global certified bodies.

The nature of the news and the way it was presented seem illogical as it was not based on any scientific evidence, the official added. Additionally, the language that was used is considered weak, which confirms the lack of credibility.
