An Emirati mother in Abu Dhabi gave birth to triplets on the first day of the new year following the death of her twins in a premature delivery more than a year ago, a newspaper reported on Monday.
Two of the triplets are in a good condition while one has been moved to the intensive care unit for lack of oxygen in the blood.
The two boys and one girl weighed 2,000 gm, 1,900 gm and 1,700 gm when they were born at the Corniche Gynaecology Hospital at around 8.30 am on Sunday, the Sharjah-based Arabic language daily Alkhaleej said, adding that they were named Mohammed, Khalifa and Dana.
“I had twin boys before but they died just after birth because they were born prematurely in the seventh month,” said their father, Hassan Al Zaabi.
He said he was extremely happy with the newcomers and that he already had a daughter, Aysha.
