Two embezzling brothers jailed 5 years, fined Dh4m

A Dubai court sentenced two Arab brothers to five years in jail and fined them Dh4 million after they were convicted of embezzling more than Dhthree million from a bank, press reports said on Saturday.

Judicial officials said one defendant, who works as an operations managed at a local bank, forged an official document showing his brother, a businessman, deposited Dh3.3 million with that bank.

“Investigation showed that the businessmen was an accomplice to his brother in all crimes committed at the bank,” prosecutor Ismail Madani said, quoted by the semi-official daily 'Al Ittihad'.

He said the two, who were not identified, were sentenced on charges of embezzlement, forgery and breach of trust.
